"SWAT" Knives by Kiku
|We have received a great letter from our customer who bought 3 Kiku knives
recently (one knife was a gift to his friend who becomes a police officer)
I just wanted to contact you with thanks. The EMS package has been delivered.
My friend is overwhelmed with the beauty and balance of his KM-930 DB Collabo Police model gift. I know it will be a useful tool in his career in law
The KM-390 Momose-Gawa is simple and perfect for use as a fishing companion and will see much
use in the years to come and I shall pass it to my son when he is a little
The KM-310 Shu-Fu is a work of art and will join my collection of Kiku's exquisitely crafted knives. It is my first blade from Kiku that is not OU-31 and I was a little hesitant to try a new metal. I should have known that Kiku would not work with anything but the finest metals. The Super Gold 2 Damascus blade is beautiful and Kiku's hamaguri-ba blade edge is flawless.
I own many blades but Kiku's work is special in some intangible way. If
ever there was a man who seems somehow infusing a "spirit" into a
blade it is the Master Kiku Matsuda. Many thanks to Master Kiku for his
incredible craftsmanship. I feel very lucky to have been allowed to care
for these creations that will one day all be passed on to my son.
Thank you, Marcel V.

The Best Collaborative Knife of the Year Award
Winners, Mr. Spencer Frazer, President of SOG Specialty
Knives, Inc. and Master Kiku Matsuda, holding the knife
together at SOG booth
Kiku with the Award plaque on his
table at the Blade Show in Atlanta
Just received a good
feedback from Tom Tsouris who is collecting Kiku
"I just received my new
Kiku Matsuda "Yoroi Tooshi." It is truly a masterpiece. It is
much more impressive in person than I imagined. Razor sharp
and incredibly tough, the hamaguri-ba blade cuts through
everything like a laser even though the knife is 6mm thick at
the spine. The new polished finish is extremely tasteful. This
will be the centerpiece of my growing knife collection. Thank
you very much for finding it for me. It is always a pleasure
doing business with you and your service is next to none.

Here is a comment from Mr. Bob Moon who has
recently bought Kiku knife:
"Thank you for a very beautiful knife. It has a
wonderful overall shape, and a fine edge. It has a timeless
beauty that is indicative of the refinement of Japanese
design. I am very pleased, and please pass this
message on to Master Kiku"
We have many more
thanks letters from the users, and here is the one from
Marcin Morawski in
Kiku Matsuda, the new knifemaker
who has a magic hand in grinding and polishing the
blades in any angles and directions. Unlike normal
grinders, he uses a side flat area of the power wheel,
that is his canvas to create any 3D grindings, concave,
hollow, flat, Hamaguri (convex), twist, double and
triple grindings in a free hand. He says his
fingers move automatically from his imagination. This is
has been running a small workshop in Seki for blade
grinding work for Seki production knife makers. Kiku has
joined at the age of 15 and learned the grinding
technique from his father. He is now 56, and his 40
years experiences and techniques have proved to be a
best grinder in the world. His fine work was admitted by
William Henry Knives some years ago, and all of their
custom grade blades are being hand ground and polished
After his son, Masayuki (3rd
generation) has joined, he has started making his own
knives (handmade custom knives). At the local knife
shows, his unique Tactical knives have quickly received
great reputations for it’s unique blade style and
extreme durability and sharpness. His first blade steel
preference is the OU-31 (see details of
this newly developed specialty steel here), but he also
uses D2, ATS-34 and VG-10.
The blade durability, edge sharpness and longer edge retention of his knives are not only for the steel character, but also for his special Hamaguri-Ba (Japanese Convex edge famous for Katana) grinding. After polished the blade, he will use a special art
etching process on the blade for non-glare finish,
corrosion resistance and blade
surface protection. He prefers to use G-10 for the
handles, hand contoured and shaped to fit with hand with
an unique parachute cord guard. Each knife comes with
hand fitted Kydex sheath with Tek-Lok carrying
be amazed with the outstanding blade grinding and
cutting performance of Kiku Knives, when you actually
use it. We would like you to experience and prove it,
However, his custom knife production is very
limited right now, as he still devotes most of his work
for the blade grinding for several knife makers. So far,
he only made some knives for the shows. Kiku is my long
time friend, and I have been helping him traveling and
last 4 years. From the show knives he made, I was
choosing and collecting a few best knives at
a time, and finally, the time has
come to introduce 15 different knives to the JKD
customers. Please note that we have only one piece each
model, and have no idea when we will have next, once
sold out. Fortunately, he intends to share more times to
make his own custom knives, so we hope to be able to get
more knives in the near
