We had the 19th annual Seki Knife Show on October 7th and 8th. It was a
very successful show for Kiku introducing many new models. We will upload
the new models soon.
Hot News on Tactical Knives Magazine!
In the recent November issue of the Tactical Knives magazine (shown left),
Kiku knives are admired by Gunny (R. Lee Armey) in his interview articles.
He is an open-hearted guy, and spoke to us friendly in Japanese, when he
visited Kiku's table at the Blade Show. He said he was in Okinawa for a
few years, and he loves Japan.
7/16/11 UP! Added Kiku's Atlanta Blade Show Specials Kiku has made and brought some Special Models to the Blade Show in Atlanta,
and would like to offer a few leftovers.
Kiku with Gunny! As promised at the SHOT Show in January, Kiku has made a special knife

Kiku won the Award at Blade Show in
2007!
At the recent Blade Show
held in Atlanta on June 8-10, Kiku knife won the Best
Collaboration Knife of the Year Award. In this March,
Mr.Spencer Frazer, President of SOG Specialty Knives, Inc.
Lynnwood, WA. has visited Kiku workshop in Seki, and discussed
about the Reverse Collaboration Knife designed by SOG and
handmade by
Kiku.
Kiku has made two knives for the show,
and SOG has presented one knife for the award entry. On the
second day of the show, the Knife Of The Year Awards Banquet
was held and the Kiku/SOG collaboration knife won the Best
Collaboration Knife of the Year
Award. This is a
great honor for Mr. Kiku
Matsuda.

Kiku Matsuda, the new knifemaker
who has a magic hand in grinding and polishing the
blades in any angles and directions. Unlike normal
grinders, he uses a side flat area of the power wheel,
that is his canvas to create any 3D grindings, concave,
hollow, flat, Hamaguri (convex), twist, double and
triple grindings in a free hand. He says his
fingers move automatically from his imagination. This is
amazing!!!!!!!
His father
has been running a small workshop in Seki for blade
grinding work for Seki production knife makers. Kiku has
joined at the age of 15 and learned the grinding
technique from his father. He is now 56, and his 40
years experiences and techniques have proved to be a
best grinder in the world. His fine work was admitted by
William Henry Knives some years ago, and all of their
custom grade blades are being hand ground and polished
by him.
After his son, Masayuki (3rd
generation) has joined, he has started making his own
knives (handmade custom knives). At the local knife
shows, his unique Tactical knives have quickly received
great reputations for itfs unique blade style and
extreme durability and sharpness. His first blade steel
preference is the OU-31 (see details of
this newly developed specialty steel here), but he also
uses D2, ATS-34 and VG-10.
The blade durability, edge sharpness and longer
edge retention of his knives are not only for the
steel character, but also for his special Hamaguri-Ba
(Japanese Convex edge famous for Katana) grinding. After
polished the blade, hewill use a special art
etching process on the blade for non-glare finish,
corrosion resistanceand blade
surface protection. He prefers to use G-10 for the
handles, hand contoured and shaped to fit with hand with
an unique parachute cord guard. Each knife comes with
hand fitted Kydex sheath with Tek-Lok carrying
device.
You will
be amazed with the outstanding blade grinding and
cutting performance of Kiku Knives, when you actually
use it. We would like you to experience and prove it,
However, his custom knife production is very
limited right now, as he still devotes most of his work
for the blade grinding for several knife makers. So far,
he only made some knives for the shows. Kiku is my long
time friend, and I have been helping him traveling and
conducting international
shows in
last 4 years. From the show knives he made, I was
choosing and collecting a few best knives at
atime, and finally, the time has
come to introduce 15 different knives to the JKD

Pro-Hunter, Mr. Chujyo in Hokkaido. Based on the original Master Hunter
I (Hasinau Kamui), he has re-designed the blade thinner and flat grinding

I just recently purchased the KM-660 Kiku Garou and upon recieving
it, I have to say it is a work of art. The knife resembles the
traditional Kris dagger from my home country and what is amazing is the
beauty that Kiku has brought out in the blade itself. At first glance
one would almost think the knife was made out of polished marble! The
smooth etched surface of the blade is amazing to behold, one has to see
this knife in the flesh because photos don't do it justice. This is my
first Kiku Matsuda knife and it definately will not be the last! The
